The Mayfield Mafia

Cristoffo Artinelli..aka..Stoffo had a distinct trait that set him apart from everyone else in Mayfield, Stoffo was the only Italian guy in  town, actually the whole area..Stoffo had been nicknamed the "Italian Flash" for his exploits on the grid iron and a few of his exploits off..:) But the thing that intrigued Bob Castle the most about Stoffo? He was the only Italian guy in town, Castle could not let go of that fact, so one day he decided to ask Stoffo how in the world he ended up in Mayfield?

"Stoffo, don't take this the wrong way, but how did you end up in Mayfield? Your the only Italian in Mayfield, doesn't that seem awkward to you?" Castle had heard all the rumors about Stoffo's connections, after all, Mayfield was a small town and Castle wasn't the only guy who was noticing Stoffo. Stoffo looked at Castle and said "Castle, you think that I am in the Mob? Don't you?" Stoffo seemed a little angered by Castle's question, Stoffo was not a guy to mess with, most of his fights were over pretty quick.."No problem i'm just curious, forget I asked?" Castle was not going to push Stoffo, the two of them were close friends and he did not want to put that friendship in jeopardy. Still, he had to know the truth about Stoffo's past. Why was he the only Italian in Mayfield? It was time for Stoffo to finally come clean.

"Castle this has been weighing on me for a long time, I know I look out of place in Mayfield, but this is where they sent me until the "heat" dies down in NYC," Gulp, Castle was starting to believe his suspicions about Stoffo.."Heat? What do you mean heat?" Castle replied..Stoffo looked at Castle and said "When your from the city like I am..You are bound to run into some "heat".. I got tired of that heat, so I decided to move to the mid west. I was looking for a place to call home and I found Mayfield." Castle had the answer that he was looking for, it didn't matter about Stoffo's past to Castle, Mayfield was his new beginning. "Stoffo your not gonna have me whacked? Are you?" Castle was sensing that things were cool and decided to lighten the mood. "Only if you ask me again about the "old days." Stoffo replied..

It turns out Stoffo and his clan were the first of many Italian families that decided to call Mayfield home. Stoffo had 10 brothers and sisters..All of them were tired of the heat..They decided to move to Mayfield with their families..Some of Stoffo's friends from the "neighborhood" decided to call Mayfield home. The next thing you know, Mayfield has a thriving Italian community. Just to give everyone a better idea of how much Stoffo and his Italian buddies mean to Mayfield, after Stoffo was chosen to play in the Shrine Bowl his Senior year, the town council renamed  a stretch of highway after him..Stoffo Artinelli Parkway is the largest thoroughfare in Mayfield..:)
